There is a day change below. I entered the wrong day when posting last. RM.
The Forest Service has rented the range on Wednesday October 25.
The Range will be closed for the membership that day until 7:00 PM
Thank you for understanding as these rental days help pay our maintenance/snow removal bills.
The Locks were changed today 9-11-2023. If you have not renewed your membership by now you will not be able to access the range.
September is renew time. If your need to renew your membership get to it. We won’t be into the new range for another year unfortunately. The maintenance for the the new range will be much more, but the new range will be much better. On September 11 the locks will be changed so your old key will not work. Contact Steve Skolnick for renewal, down load the waiver/application from the web sight and send it to Steve. The Cost is 75 dollars for the year and 200 for three years.
The drone video of the new range has been placed on the Gallery page for your fun to watch. We are hopping to be moved within the next year. There is still the road, power and moving the building to be done. Thank you , Laura, Chris, John and others for your continuing hard work.
Mark Ballenger will be conducting an “Introduction to Defensive Handgun” class May 6th from 8am to 6pm. The range will be closed at that time.
This is not a Cooper Landing Gun Club sponsored event.
If you are interested in attending the class contact him:
Mark Ballenger, 907-953-1953
The Cost of the Class is $50 and the requirements are:
Semi-Auto or revolver handgun, strong side holster, mag or speed loader holder , eye and hearing protection.
Its the time of year that many of our agency users have begun begun their annual training and proficiency qualifications. These users are important to the Club as they rent the range and provide us with needed revenue. Please be patient and respectful of their times and days.
The forest service is going to be conducting more training on the following dates. The range will be closed 8:00am through 5:30 pm:
May 2; May 18th, 19th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th.
The Forest service will be conducting training on Wednesday May 10th 2023 all day so the range will be closed until 5:30 pm.
Plans continue to move forward toward opening our new shooting range near Dave’s Creek (approx mile 39 Sterling Hwy). The club hopes to receive an easement from the State for our road access this fall and begin work before freeze up. If plans stay on track, we may be able to move to the new range in 2023! Our current range on Bean Creek Rd will continue to operate until the new range is open. Due to legal matters etc, the new range is not to be used and is closed. Please do not shoot there and possibly jeopardize our progress.
Thank you to everyone who has been working hard to open the new range.
The club will be offering an “Introduction to Shot gunning” class on September 24th. For more info, please contact Laura Johnson at 907-205-0801 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are interested in becoming more involved with the club, please email me at email@example.com.
Have a great fall filled with lots of gun power,
Laura Johnson, President
Cooper Landing Gun Club
Dear Cooper Landing Gun Club Members,
September is right around the corner. It’s time to renew your membership to receive an updated gate key. If you are a multi year member, a key will be automatically mailed to you.
We have increased our membership dues. The new rates are $75 per year for a single or family membership, OR $200 for a 3 year membership. This cost increases reflects wear and tear on equipment, snow plowing costs and projected costs for the increased size of the new rage.
To update our membership lists, please fill out the attached form and mail with your payment to:
8989 W John Street
Wasilla, AK 99623-5019
Please contact Steve by email or text with membership questions.
